Mastering Your Sunday Reset Routine

Weekends offer a chance to unwind and recharge. For sleeping in, for spending time with friends and family. For going on adventures. Like most of our clients, I don't want to spend my weekend cleaning. But I always see Sundays as an opportunity to set myself up for success for the week ahead. Implementing a Sunday reset routine has allowed me to begin each week with a clean and organized home, without spending the entire day cleaning. I have a routine that efficiently prepares my house for the upcoming week in only an hour.

Sunday Sorting: Tackling Laundry

I start by striping the linens off of my bed. With my sheets in the wash, I sort my laundry. This involves gathering the laundry and sorting it into designated piles. Whether it's separating whites from colours or folding and putting away items from the dryer, this step ensures that the laundry doesn't accumulate and become overwhelming at the start of the new week.

Kitchen Cleanup: Maintaining Order

Instead of starting the week with a messy kitchen, I take advantage of Sundays to reset the space. This involves dishes and giving all surfaces a quick wipe-down. It may seem counterintuitive to clean the kitchen on a day when I end up doing meal prep and creating more mess, but starting with a clean slate sets the tone for the week ahead.

Tidying Up the Living Room: Ensuring an Inviting Space

Next, I move onto the living room, a central area of our home. I tidy up any clutter and dust.

Routine Refresh: Keeping The Bathroom Clean and Tidy

My bathrooms hold up well during the week, but the sinks, mirrors, toilets, and floors need cleaning. Today, I'll skip the bathtubs, but if yours needs extra attention, now's the time for some TLC.

Pre-Treat Surfaces: Clearing all surfaces, I use our all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner and homemade scrub to pre-treat mirrors, counters, and sinks.

Toilet TLC: Applying cleaner to the exterior and our homemade scrub inside, I clean every part of the toilet, including hard-to-reach areas.

Mirror Magic: Using a microfiber cloth and glass cleaner, I clean mirrors in an efficient S pattern from top to bottom for streak-free shine.

Sink Scrub: A scrub daddy and our homemade scrub tackles stubborn residues in the sink, followed by a thorough polish for a sparkling finish.

Floor Focus: Controversial but necessary in my opinion, hand cleaning the bathroom floor ensures meticulous coverage, tackling dirt, hair and grime effectively.

I replace the towels put all of the items back on the counter and change the garbage liner.

Floor Cleaning: Clearing the Way for a Thorough Vacuum

I vacuum my floors probably 3 to four times a week, and today presents an opportunity to do it as well. One thing I learned early in my cleaning career is that moving pieces of furniture out of the way is essential for thorough vacuuming. It's crucial to get underneath and behind furniture where pet fur likes to gather. I finish by mopping my floors and making my bed.

After completing my Sunday reset, I take some time to unwind. I sip on kombucha, light a candle to set a cozy mood and plan for the week ahead. It's a simple way to relax and prepare for the week to come. With just one hour of focused effort, you can transform your space and set yourself up for a week of success!
